What is Stock Movement Between Locations?
Stock Movement (also called Transfer Order) is when you move inventory from one location (e.g., one warehouse) to another in NetSuite. This helps keep track of stock availability across different locations.
Step-by-Step Guide for Moving Stock Between Locations
1. Login to NetSuite
- Open your browser and log in to your NetSuite account.
2. Navigate to Transfer Orders
- From the Homepage, go to:

Transactions > Inventory > Transfer Order (or search "Transfer Order" in the global search bar).
3. Create a New Transfer Order
- Click on New Transfer Order.
4. Fill in the Locations

From Location: Select the location you are moving the stock from.

To Location: Select the location you are moving the stock to.
5. Enter Item Information
- Under the Item column, select the item you wish to transfer.
- Enter the Quantity you want to transfer.
- (Optional) You can also select the Bin if the item is stored in a bin at either location.
6. Add Multiple Items (if needed)
- If you need to transfer more than one item, click Add or use the Next Line button to enter additional items.
7. Enter Shipping Information (if required)
- Depending on your setup, you may need to enter details for shipping the items, including Ship Date, Shipping Carrier, and Shipping Method.
8. Save the Transfer Order
- Once you’ve entered all the details, click Save.
9. Fulfill the Transfer Order
- After creating the transfer order, you need to Fulfillit to confirm the items are leaving the original location.
- Go to Transactions > Inventory > Item Fulfillment.
- Select the Transfer Order and fill in any additional shipping or fulfillment details.
- Click Save to fulfill the transfer.
10. Receive the Transfer at the New Location
- Once the items have been physically received at the new location, you need to Receive the Transfer Orderin NetSuite.
- Go to Transactions > Purchases/Vendors > Receive Transfer Order.
- Select the relevant transfer order, verify the items and quantities received, and click Save.
11. Confirm the Stock Movement
- After receiving, the inventory will be updated at the new location. You can check this by going to Inventory Reports or Item Records to confirm the stock is now available at the new location.
Tips:
- Always check the From and To Locations carefully to avoid stock discrepancies.
- Double-check the quantities and item details before fulfilling the transfer.
- If your company uses bins, make sure to specify the correct bin locations for both the origin and destination locations.
